Jaime Velez is a Diamond Certified, Grammy-winning Recording & Mix Engineer and a CoFounder/Co-Owner of Blackwood Studios in Los Angeles. Born in Ecuador but grew up in Houston, Jaime has an extensive classically-trained background as a violinist. Upon graduating with a BA from Columbia College Chicago, Jaime immediately landed the head engineer position at a recording studio in Hollywood. Two years into his career, he worked on Sly & Robbie's Grammy-nominated Reggae Album. Jaime won his first Grammy in 2017 for "Don't Let Me Down" by The Chainsmokers ft Daya. He's had the privilege of working with such artists as Lizzo, Tyrese, Khalid, Demi Lovato, The Chainsmokers, Tayla Parx, Prince Royce, Janelle Monae, and Sabastian Yatra. His work on "Love Lies" by Khalid and Normani reached #1 on Top 40 radio. Jaime is sought out for his creative engineering approach and his work on vocal production.
