For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the complexities of the English language—especially the way vowel sounds are represented by so many different letter combinations. Early in my teaching career, I saw how this confusion could hold back even the most enthusiastic young readers and spellers. I watched students struggle to make sense of words like ‘caught’, ‘weight’, or ‘height’, and realized that traditional methods—grouping by letters rather than sounds—often left them more confused than confident.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve dedicated myself to finding better ways to teach these tricky vowel-sound clusters. I’ve worked with learners of all backgrounds, constantly evolving my approach to make learning more intuitive and effective. My focus has always been on personalizing the journey, helping each student move beyond the basics and truly understand how English works beneath the surface.
This app is the culmination of those decades of research, classroom experience, and one-on-one work with students. I designed it to teach vowel-sound clusters by their actual sounds (phonemes), not just by the letters that happen to represent them. Each chapter and game is carefully structured to build real understanding, not just rote memorization.
My hope is that this app will help learners—and those supporting them—finally overcome the biggest hurdles in English spelling and reading. I believe that with the right guidance, anyone can master these complexities and gain confidence in their literacy skills.
