Born both registered blind and deaf, I have spent a lifetime navigating the world in alternative ways to most. When I decided to pursue a career in medicine, I didn't have a role model to look up to, quickly realising I was the UK's first deafblind person training to be a doctor.
Over the years I have had to overcome discrimination, resistance, and outdated stereotypes to prove what's truly possible as a person with dual sensory loss. With a bit of open-mindedness, innovation, and accommodation, plus hard work and self-belief, I do believe that anything is possible. My journey hasn't been without its challenges, but with innovations, tech, and hacks that have allowed me to thrive in environments not previously designed for people like me, I have now graduated to become a doctor working in the NHS.
Throughout my medical training and career, I’ve had to invent new ways of working, adapt technology, and advocate for adjustments that made the seemingly impossible, possible. I’ve seen firsthand how much potential is unlocked when workplaces are willing to adapt, and how much misinformation still exists about what disabled people can achieve—especially in demanding fields like healthcare.
I created this app to share everything I’ve learned, not just with disabled professionals, but also with employers, organizations, and the wider public. My goal is to break down barriers, bust myths, and show that with the right support and mindset, disability is not a limitation but a source of innovation. Of course, these are discoveries and adaptations that are constantly changing and developing, so this app will not include everything at the very beginning. But, with your help, learning via small steps each day, I hope we can become a more inclusive and accessible place.
Whether you’re navigating your own career with a disability, supporting a colleague, or simply want to understand what’s truly possible, I hope this app empowers you to see—and create—new possibilities.
