My journey with encaustic art began over 15 years ago, the first time I saw an encaustic painting hanging in a gallery. I was instantly drawn in—and just as quickly intimidated by the medium’s unique challenges. I dove in headfirst anyway, trying every technique I could find, and soon learned that mistakes weren’t just inevitable. They were essential to my growth as an artist.
Through years of practice and teaching, I’ve learned that every mishap is a chance to discover something new. I’ve made just about every mistake you can imagine, from cracked surfaces to muddy colors, and each one taught me how to adapt, improvise, and turn the unexpected into something beautiful.
As a teacher, I’m passionate about helping artists experiment freely and let go of perfectionism. I know how daunting encaustic can feel in the moment—when the wax is hot, a question pops up, and you don’t want to lose your momentum. That’s why I created this app: so anyone can have my voice in their pocket whenever an encaustic question arises. Instead of stopping, second-guessing, or waiting for the next class, you can get guidance right away, move forward with confidence, and keep painting and experimenting.
My hope is that this app gives you the confidence to explore encaustic fearlessly, the courage to learn from your mistakes, and the space to develop your own unique style. Let’s celebrate the creative process together, one layer at a time.
