Growing up, I was fascinated by the buildings around me—how they shaped our lives, told our stories, and reflected our values. That curiosity led me into architecture, where I began to look more closely at how spaces influence the way people feel, move, and connect.
As I developed professionally in a field that remains largely male-dominated, I began to form my own voice—one that questioned what we consider innovation in architecture. I found myself drawn to the intelligence embedded in traditional African building systems, shaped by generations of lived experience with climate, materials, and community life.
With over seven years of experience working on architectural and real estate development projects, I’ve seen how contemporary approaches often overlook this depth of knowledge. This realization led me to create Restoring Legacies, a platform where I explore these ideas through storytelling and visual documentation.
This app builds on that work. It brings together visuals, stories, and insights to help you explore the knowledge embedded in African building traditions—and to consider what it might reveal about how we design and inhabit environments today and in the future.
