Some of my earliest ideas about games came from worlds that refused to explain themselves. The Legend of Zelda drops you into a landscape with almost nothing: a cave, an old man, a wooden sword, and enough mystery for curiosity to take over. Zork did the same with words alone, letting a few sentences imply an enormous world.
Those ideas—discovery without over-explanation and imagination filling the space between actions—are direct inspirations for Music Practice RPG. I’ve been building games and software since I was a teenager, and I’ve spent years teaching violin through BenChanViolin. This app brings those threads together: real music practice, persistent fantasy consequence, practical teaching instincts, and a world that gives musicians a reason to come back tomorrow.
