I spent nearly 30 years as a practicing, board-certified internal medicine physician—diagnosing and treating the very diseases so many people fear: heart disease, diabetes, and even cancer. Over those years, I witnessed the heartbreaking reality of tens of thousands of patients after significant disease had already taken hold. That experience shifted how I see medicine—and my role in it. I didn’t want to simply treat established disease and hope for the best—I wanted to be part of a global shift focused on helping people reduce their risk in the first place, or live better, stronger lives even after a diagnosis.

Today, I’m proud to be among a small fraction of physicians worldwide who are board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine—a rapidly growing, evidence-based field focused on helping people prevent disease and improve their health through the power of daily habits.
