As a practicing internal medicine physician, I spent nearly three decades watching two patterns repeat: people who gave up on weight loss altogether, and others who followed all the “right” advice—eating less, exercising more—yet still struggled. Both often ended up frustrated and discouraged, questioning themselves. Over time, it became clear to me that this wasn’t a willpower issue—it was that the traditional approach was incomplete. Calorie counting, punishing workouts, and quick fixes often ignore how the body actually works.
Everything changed when I shifted the focus to restoring the body, not restricting it. I trained in Lifestyle Medicine—a rapidly growing, science-based approach now practiced in over 57 countries—that focuses on the root causes of health, including metabolism, nutrition, sleep, stress, and daily habits. Instead of chasing short-term results, it addresses the underlying drivers of weight and overall health in a more effective, sustainable way.
