"I made the resource I wish I had when I started"

Emilie Garnes

Emilie Garnes

Creator of Sourdough.etc — helping 50K+ home bakers make sourdough make sense.

When I first started baking sourdough 7 years ago, I was overwhelmed by complicated science and technical terms. I wanted to make beautiful, tasty bread, but every recipe seemed to assume I already knew way more than I did. They didn't explain the why. So I learned by doing—again and again—until I felt confident in my own process and understood the why behind what I do.

Over the years, I’ve baked through every season, experimented with different flours, and adapted my methods to fit a busy life. And the past few years I've been teaching thousands of others how to do the same, through my Instagram and Substack.

I know firsthand how frustrating it can be when bread does not turn out as hoped, or when you feel stuck. That is why I created this coaching app— to give you simple, practical guidance so you can understand your dough, make the right adjustments, and actually start to enjoy the process of baking sourdough.

Your toolkit for getting there

An 11-module curriculum: from your first starter to your first open-crumb loaf
Troubleshooting support for real problems: flat loaves, dense crumb, overproofing, and more
Step-by-step technique lessons: folding, shaping, scoring, and baking, broken down stage by stage
A clear focus each day, never a long to-do list
Photo-based feedback from your Coach on every bake
A recipe library, including downloadable PDFs for every bake you unlock
Room to branch out when you're ready: open crumb, wholegrains, focaccia, naan, and your own signature recipe
A progress log to track bakes you complete, satisfaction ratings and modules mastered

What should I focus on today?
02:15 PM
Today, we’ll focus on reading your dough during bulk fermentation, building strength with gentle folds, and shaping a balanced country loaf. These skills help you adjust confidently when your flour, room temperature, or schedule changes.
02:16 PM
I only have about 45 minutes this evening, and I won’t be home again until tomorrow morning. Can you update today’s activities?
02:16 PM
Absolutely! I’ll adjust today’s activities so you can mix the dough, complete a short strength-building session, and set up an overnight fermentation plan. You’ll still make progress without rushing the dough or losing control of the bake.
