As a young person learning to beatbox, I often felt self-conscious and was afraid of showing anyone what I was learning, keeping it to myself and confined to my bedroom for many years before sharing anything publicly. When I found the courage to emerge and perform, I found that as a young woman entering the male-dominated world of beatboxing, I often felt out of place and like I didn't quite belong. But through playful experimentation, pushing past my fears, and seeking out my people in the community, something shifted. I discovered my voice was more than an instrument: it was a source of confidence and creativity. I have always been a little weird but beatboxing helped me to embrace that side of me, letting go of inhibitions and making strange sounds made me feel free and... dare I say it... eventually... cool. Behind every 'cool' person is a little nerd who just wanted to be seen. Over the years, I've taught beatboxing to people of all ages and backgrounds and watched them transform as they unlock new sounds and self-belief. My mission is to make beatboxing a tool for self-expression, empowerment and stress relief, not just a musical skill. I want people to experience beatboxing as a whole-body practice; breath work disguised as music and creative play that leaves you feeling lighter. I started beatboxing alone in my bedroom at 14 and went on to become a 4× UK Beatbox Champion. And now, after 15 years as a professional beatboxer, artist and teacher, I'm sharing the tools and confidence I wish I'd had when I started.
