I’ve spent most of my life with the erhu—first as a student of Professor Yang Zhong Cai, then as a performer, and for more than a decade as a teacher. Again and again, I saw the same problem: students could receive good advice in a lesson, then sit down to practise alone and still wonder, “What exactly should I change?”
That question became the foundation of the PAI Method—Practice, Awareness, and Intention. Instead of simply repeating a passage and hoping it improves, I teach players to work toward a clear result, test one relevant change, notice what happens, and keep what actually helps.
My background includes a Professional Stringed-Instrument Performance Diploma, serving as First Chair Erhu with the Canada YC Chinese Music Orchestra, and awards including Gold with Outstanding Musicality at the Stanford Baipu competition and Silver at the Dunhuang Cup North America competition.
I’m also the creator of the Erhu Fundamentals Masterclass (EFMC), my structured online erhu curriculum, and Erhu Labs, my guided-practice program where students work through technique, repertoire, and real playing problems with me.
PAI Erhu Coach brings that same teaching approach into your daily practice—so you can get useful guidance between lessons, work through problems more independently, and bring what you discover back into your music.
