Your daily practice

Spend less time doom-scrolling. And more time nourishing your brain.

Every day: one short lesson from history, philosophy or art. One reflection. One small thing to try in the real world and one short written or spoken reflection. Not to read and forget, but to keep.

Bene Factum! Seven days of Stoicism. Marcus would approve!

auto_stories

Real cultural literacy, daily

Short lessons from Plato, the Stoics, Kintsugi, the Cellist of Sarajevo; big ideas distilled.

self_improvement

Built around action, not just reflection

Every lesson comes with one small thing to try; a conversation, a walk, a noticing. Wisdom you put down on the page and pick up in the world.

psychology_alt

You get what you put in

Your daily reflections get real responses, observations, questions, and feedback. The more considered they are, the more you'll get back.

One idea. One action. Every day.

A personal journal of applied wisdom and reflection

Each day starts with a lesson, and no day is the same. One day, you might learn about Sylvia Plath's Fig Tree on the cost of indecision; the next, John Locke's Locked Room on free will. Then Heraclitus filtered through the Buena Vista Social Club. Or Megadeth founder Dave Mustaine on the danger of measuring yourself against others.

After each lesson, you'll have a short reflection, a chance to see how the ideas land in your own life. Submit it to the app, and you'll get a real response. Not one that flatters or flattens, but one that guides you towards a richer perspective.

Over time, you build a journal that's part diary, part practice, part conversation.

A note from Kai

"After years of translating big ideas into daily lessons, I built the app I needed most"

Kai Bilimoria

Kai Bilimoria

Creator of @history_art_philosophy and Cambridge Theology grad, making timeless ideas accessible to 250K+ learners worldwide.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the big questions; how to live, what matters, and how to find meaning in a noisy world. But like so many people today, I’ve also struggled with the constant pull of distraction and information overload. I wanted to find a way to slow down, reflect, and actually absorb the wisdom that’s out there, instead of just scrolling past it.

That’s what led me to start @history_art_philosophy, where I’ve spent years turning complex ideas from art, philosophy, history, religion, and psychology into short, engaging lessons for a curious but busy audience. Along the way, I wrote a book using the same approach: vivid stories and practical insights that help people apply timeless wisdom to their everyday lives.

I built this app because I know firsthand how hard it is to carve out space for reflection and intentional living. My goal was to create something that makes it easy (even for the most overstimulated among us) to build a daily habit of learning and mindfulness. Every lesson in the app is designed to be clear, memorable, and genuinely useful, drawing from the best of culture to help you see the world (and yourself) with fresh eyes.

My hope is that this app becomes a small but meaningful part of your day, a place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most. If it helps you find a little more clarity, resilience, or perspective, then it’s done its job.

What should I focus on today?
09:48 PM
Today, we'll focus on using Sylvia Plath’s fig tree metaphor to reflect on your current choices. This helps you move from overwhelm to clarity, and encourages intentional action instead of passive waiting.
09:48 PM
I’m feeling really busy and only have about five minutes today. Can you give me a shorter reflection?
09:49 PM
Absolutely! I’ll guide you through a quick version: read the fig tree passage, jot down one choice you’ve been avoiding, and write a single sentence about what you might do next. Even small steps build clarity.
