From idea to reality

If you can imagine it, you can learn to make it.

Working in the film industry has taught me that you don't need to already know how to make something. Even professionals are constantly faced with things we've never built before. The skill is knowing how to figure it out.
And no two makers (or projects) are the same. Your experience, budget, deadline, location, tools, workspace and even physical limitations can completely change the best way to build something.
That's why this isn't another one-size-fits-all tutorial. The app gets to know you and your unique projects, asks the questions you might not know to ask yet, and helps you find a practical path from the idea in your head to something real.I promise you. If you have an idea for a project - it's because you're supposed to be making it.

Nice job!

3 wild ideas made real this month. Imagine what you’ll make next.

construction

Built around you.

Your experience, location, budget, deadline, available tools, workspace and personal constraints all matter. The app takes them into account before helping you decide how to approach your build.

lightbulb

Think like a maker.

Understand what to use - and why.
Explore materials, tools and techniques based on what your project actually needs. Understand the trade-offs and reasoning behind different approaches instead of simply being told what to do.

settings

Things will go wrong. That's making.

Problem-solve as you build.
Plans change. Tests fail. Materials misbehave. Work through problems as they happen, adapt your approach and figure out what comes next.

Your workshop companion

Your project is unique. Your guidance should be too.

A tutorial can show you how someone else made something. This app helps you figure out how you should make yours. It considers your exact project, experience, location, budget, deadline, tools, workspace and personal constraints (like allergies or past injuries!) before helping you plan a path forward.

Describe even your wildest idea, and the app will ask the questions you might not know to ask yourself yet. Together, we'll explore materials, techniques and different ways to approach the build - understanding not just what to do, but why.

Then it stays with you through the process: planning ahead, breaking the build into manageable steps, helping you troubleshoot when things don't go to plan, and adapting as your project evolves.

Because that's how making works in professional workshops too. We don't always know the answer when we begin. We know how to figure it out.

"If there's something you want to do in life - it's because you're supposed to be doing it."

Nadja Nikko

Nadja Nikko

Professional film prop maker and content creator

I didn't grow up making things. I didn't know anyone in the film industry, and when I first decided I wanted to make props for a living, I genuinely had no idea where to begin. I had to learn everything from scratch.

That journey eventually took me around the world and into some of the most incredible professional workshops, including Wētā Workshop in New Zealand - the place that first inspired me to create fantasy worlds for a living.

And somewhere along the way, I realised something important: professional makers don't know how to make everything either.
In film, we're constantly asked to create things we've never made before. Sometimes things that have never existed before. There isn't always a tutorial to follow or a person who already knows the answer. You learn how to look at the whole problem, ask the right questions, understand the constraints, research your options, test ideas, make decisions - and adapt when things inevitably don't go to plan.

It's this way of thinking that I wanted to put into this app.

Because the best solution isn't the same for everyone. The material I would choose in a professional workshop might make absolutely no sense for someone working from their kitchen table on a small budget.

Your experience, location, tools, workspace, deadline, budget and personal limitations all change the answer.

That's why I don't believe creativity can be taught through one-size-fits-all instructions.
I believe anyone can learn anything. I believe creativity is something we develop by doing, experimenting, failing, problemsolving and following the ideas that make us curious enough to try.

This app isn't here to create for you. It's here to help you ask the questions you might not know to ask yet, understand your options, plan clearly and make your own decisions.
You bring the wild idea. You do the making.
And hopefully, somewhere along the way, you'll stop asking “Can I actually make this?” and start asking:

“Okay… how are we going to make this?”

Learn how professional makers figure things out

Ask the questions you might not know to ask yet
Turn ambitious ideas into clear, realistic project plans
Choose materials, tools and techniques based on your unique project
Understand why one approach may work better than another
Balance budget, deadline, safety, durability, weight, movement and finish
Troubleshoot problems and adapt when things don’t go to plan
Work within your own tools, workspace, experience and limitations
Liberate your own creativity through curiosity and experimentation
Build your understanding with every project - not just follow instructions
Approach bigger, wilder ideas without needing to already know how
Built around you

No two makers - or projects - are the same.

Your experience, location, budget, deadline, tools, workspace and personal constraints can completely change the best way to make something. The app learns about you and your project first, then adapts its questions, planning and guidance around your unique circumstances - because no one-size-fits-all tutorial could ever account for all of them.

Today, let's focus on finalizing your material choices and sketching out the armor pattern. These steps are crucial for ensuring the armor is both comfortable for your corgi and visually matches your fantasy inspiration.
04:28 PM
I only have about 10 minutes today—can we just do the material selection part and save the pattern sketching for next time?
04:28 PM
Absolutely! I’ll tailor today’s session to focus just on material selection. We’ll review your priorities and shortlist the safest, most suitable materials for your corgi’s armor, so you can make progress even with limited time.
