I was born in Albertville, Savoie, France, where food was part of everyday family life. My parents ran a Les Routiers roadside restaurant, serving honest, good-value meals to people on the road, and I spent a lot of my childhood around both sets of grandparents. That is where my love of food really began.
At 16, I went to catering college in France, where I learned the foundations of hospitality — both front of house and in the kitchen. Those two years shaped the way I still think about cooking today: respect the ingredients, understand the technique, and make food that people genuinely enjoy eating.
After a career spent mainly in Cornwall, working as a chef and later front of house, I created Stef le Chef to share the French classics I love. This app brings that same approach into your kitchen: calm, practical, chef-led guidance that helps you cook bistro dishes with more confidence, better technique, and a real taste of France.
