Hi there - I'm Stephen King - though everyone calls me Steve as I am not the horror writer - but I have helped many clients process the imagery and emotions connected to horror or traumatic moments in their lives with an elegant, safe, speedy and simple-to-use, seven-step technique. For over 35 years, I have had the honour of working one-on-one with hundreds of clients who, as a result of this technique, have been able to experience resolution and recovery from their shock and trauma symptoms. I have wanted to provide the opportunity for such recovery and resolution to other sufferers of PTSD - and to have this technique also available to the professionals who work with them. I believe this TraumaEase App provides the bridge and platform to make that possible. With TraumaEase you will have access to exercises and guided sessions designed to help you gently, but efficiently work through difficult memories and emotions, safely and step by step. This technique can provide the means by which one can regain emotional regulation, anxiety reduction and a trigger-free existence. TraumaEase is designed to provide both support and collaboration in therapy and to empower individuals and therapists alike to work with progress tracking, personalized plans, and resources tailored to individual healing needs. Stephen (Steve) King has a B.Sc. degree in Health and Human Services and has been a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 1989. He worked as a child-care worker with Penticton Community Resources from 1980 to 1989 and worked at Pathways Addictions Resource Centre in Penticton from 1989 to 2023. During this time he was also a court services Justice of the Peace. He is presently providing counselling services at Wild Mountain Clinical Counselling.

Steve is the originator of the Detachment Technique that is specifically used for sufferers of PTSD.

He has authored two books on energy psychology and PTSD entitled, `Rapid Recovery: Accelerated Information Processing & Healing` and ‘PTSD: Cleaning and Clearing Shock & Trauma’ and has also authored the books’12 Steps to Authenticity’ and ‘The Book of Existential Questions’.

Steve’s awards include being named Citizen of the Year in 1987, the Downtown Rotary Club’s Good Citizen Award, the Sports Leadership Award in 2001, the Sports BC President’s Award in 2004, he was inducted into the Athletics BC Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Ultraman Triathlon Hall of Fame in 2024. He was presented with a Lifetime Achievement award from Triathlon BC, is featured on the Frontrunner's Walk of Fame in Victoria, BC and was recently named as an honored listee in the Marquis Who’s Who.

Along with fellow counsellors Alicia Totten and Tammy Semple, he also produced an online course under the title ‘Children and Youth: Dissipating Depression, Anxiety & Trauma’.

My journey as a trauma therapist began over thirty-five years ago, when I first witnessed the profound impact that unresolved trauma can have on every aspect of a person's life. Early in my career, I often felt frustrated by the limitations of traditional talk therapy, especially when it came to helping clients safely process overwhelming images and emotions tied to their trauma. I saw first-hand how both survivors and fellow therapists struggled to find effective, accessible tools that could support healing at a pace that felt safe and manageable.

Over the years, I dedicated myself to learning evidence-based approaches for trauma recovery, including EMDR, somatic experiencing, and mindfulness-based interventions. Despite these advances, I noticed a persistent gap: many clients needed a way to gently engage with their trauma outside of sessions, and therapists needed resources to guide this process without risking re-traumatization.

This realization inspired me to create this app. I wanted to design a resource that empowers both therapists and those living with PTSD to process difficult memories and emotions in a structured, supportive, speedy and self-paced way. Every feature in this app is grounded and shaped by the real-world needs of trauma survivors and clinicians.

My hope is that this app becomes a trusted companion on your healing journey—whether you're a therapist seeking new tools for your clients, or someone working to reclaim your sense of safety and self. Healing from trauma is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.

For over 35 years, I have had the honour of working one-on-one with hundreds of clients who, as a result of this technique, have been able to experience resolution and recovery from their shock and trauma symptoms. Stephen (Steve) King has a B.Sc. degree in Health and Human Services and has been a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 1989. He worked as a child-care worker with Penticton Community Resources from 1980 to 1989 and worked at Pathways Addictions Resource Centre in Penticton from 1989 to 2023. During this time he was also a court services Justice of the Peace. He is presently providing counselling services at Wild Mountain Clinical Counselling.

Steve is the originator of the Detachment Technique that is specifically used for sufferers of PTSD.

He has authored two books on energy psychology and PTSD entitled, `Rapid Recovery: Accelerated Information Processing & Healing` and ‘PTSD: Cleaning and Clearing Shock & Trauma’ and has also authored the books’12 Steps to Authenticity’ and ‘The Book of Existential Questions’.

Steve’s awards include being named Citizen of the Year in 1987, the Downtown Rotary Club’s Good Citizen Award, the Sports Leadership Award in 2001, the Sports BC President’s Award in 2004, he was inducted into the Athletics BC Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Ultraman Triathlon Hall of Fame in 2024. He was presented with a Lifetime Achievement award from Triathlon BC, is featured on the Frontrunner's Walk of Fame in Victoria, BC and was recently named as an honored listee in the Marquis Who’s Who.

Along with fellow counsellors Alicia Totten and Tammy Semple, he also produced an online course under the title ‘Children and Youth: Dissipating Depression, Anxiety & Trauma’.

My journey as a trauma therapist began over thirty-five years ago, when I first witnessed the profound impact that unresolved trauma can have on every aspect of a person's life. Early in my career, I often felt frustrated by the limitations of traditional talk therapy, especially when it came to helping clients safely process overwhelming images and emotions tied to their trauma. I saw first-hand how both survivors and fellow therapists struggled to find effective, accessible tools that could support healing at a pace that felt safe and manageable.

Over the years, I dedicated myself to learning evidence-based approaches for trauma recovery, including EMDR, somatic experiencing, and mindfulness-based interventions. Despite these advances, I noticed a persistent gap: many clients needed a way to gently engage with their trauma outside of sessions, and therapists needed resources to guide this process without risking re-traumatization.

This realization inspired me to create this app. I wanted to design a resource that empowers both therapists and those living with PTSD to process difficult memories and emotions in a structured, supportive, speedy and self-paced way. Every feature in this app is grounded and shaped by the real-world needs of trauma survivors and clinicians.

My hope is that this app becomes a trusted companion on your healing journey—whether you're a therapist seeking new tools for your clients, or someone working to reclaim your sense of safety and self. Healing from trauma is possible, and you don't have to do it alone.
