I’ve been playing guitar for most of my life, and I’ve spent the last 10+ years in Nashville playing professionally, touring, recording, and teaching. For a long time, though, I felt like I was a good player who still wasn’t reaching my full potential.
I could play songs, learn parts, and get around the guitar, but I didn’t really have a map of the fretboard. I knew plenty of shapes and patterns, but I didn’t always understand how they connected or why I was playing what I was playing.
Learning and really understanding the CAGED system changed that for me. Once I started seeing the fretboard as a connected map instead of a collection of shapes, a whole new level of playing opened up. I could see chords, triads, scales, and the relationships between them in a way that actually made sense.
That’s what I’m passionate about teaching with this app. I don’t just want to show you where to put your fingers. I want you to understand what’s happening underneath the shapes, why they work, and how you can use that knowledge to actually play.
I’m still learning every day, just like every other guitarist. But I’ve spent years figuring out what has helped me and my students make the fretboard click, and I want to put that knowledge in your hands.
