"I built this app to guide you through your projects and enjoy the process!"

Eryk Szczygieł / Typhon Art

Eryk Szczygieł / Typhon Art

Professional artist and creative mentor, guiding aspiring artists to build strong portfolios and find joy in their craft.

Countless hours playing Diablo, StarCraft, SpellForce and a plethora of other games was a main reason I started doing art. When I was not gaming, I'd draw monsters and creatures from fantastical worlds, knowing only that one day I wanted to be a professional artist who inspired others as I was inspired!:D

Years of practice, learning from different resources, and watching countless hours of video tutorials allowed me to pass the entry exams as a best candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland, in Industrial Design. Five years later I graduated with a master's degree with specialization in Visual Communication. While studying I also was teaching art as a side job, preparing other students for entry exams. Over the course of 7 years, I have successfully prepared hundreds of students, thanks to which they were accepted into their dream universities and continued their adventure with art in one form or another.

I know firsthand how intimidating it can be to start a new project or build a portfolio piece from scratch. That's why I wanted to create an app that not only teaches practical skills, but also encourages a positive mindset and a sense of accomplishment.

This app is the culmination of everything I've learned about planning, problem-solving, and staying motivated as an artist. From writing your own project brief, through planning and preparation, to finishing your very own project. Every lesson is designed to help you grow both creatively and professionally.

Learn from the artists who inspire you, but don’t become a copy of them. Use what resonates with you to develop an artistic voice that is uniquely your own!

During our mentorship, Eryk clearly pointed out multiple areas for improvement in each of the pieces I was working on. His great attention to detail was what stood out to me, and even more so, the different paths and processes he showed me that I could use to make the pieces better.

As a mentor, Eryk is a pretty chill dude who will hold you to a higher standard, and he’ll guide you on how to get there. Being mentored by him has greatly pushed me to the next level of my craft and my work ethic.

Simply put, he is a kind mentor who will be honest about how you can improve.

I had already been working in the industry before joining this mentorship, but I often felt that something was missing or off in my designs. This mentorship gave me valuable insights into how to think through a design, make it more coherent, and push it further. One thing I would keep in mind most from this mentorship is that a solid and successful design starts with a solid brief and clear constraints, then answering the key points within those constraints. That's how you build a successful design.

This mentorship has given me a new perspective on how to develop my concepts and approach my work. The feedback is straightforward and easy to understand, but at the same time, I still feel like I have the freedom to explore and figure things out on my own.

I’m really grateful for the time, effort, and passion he has put into helping me develop my concepts. It’s been a really valuable experience and has helped me feel more confident in my work.

My mentorship with Eryk has pushed me to a level I didn’t think was possible in such a relatively short amount of time. His emphasis on hands on learning and project-based teaching provides a fun, practical way to learn processes and pipelines used by real industry artists. Over the course of several projects, I was introduced to new ways of thinking about art and design, as well as overall refinement and polish of my skills as an artist. I also learned new tools, techniques, and processes that will all be invaluable as I continue learning about and practicing my craft. I would wholeheartedly recommend Eryk’s mentorship to anyone looking to learn more about art and design and really level up their artistic skills.

Eryk has been mentoring me for some months now, and I cannot express how much he has helped me with developing and improving my skills. He always has incredibly useful feedback, super cool and friendly attitude, and a lot of experience to share. He has also helped me get my motivation and inspiration back after losing my path in art and illustration, and that speaks a lot of how valuable he is as a mentor. I would suggest any and all artist to enrole in his activities and mentorships!
