For as long as I can remember, I've been captivated by the expressive freedom of abstract painting. When I first started, I stared at a blank canvas and designed the painting in my head. Then I launched into the artwork. Later, I mixed it up with simply starting and not knowing what the final look would be. I spent years experimenting with color, texture, and composition—driven by curiosity and a desire to create something truly my own.
As my practice grew, I began teaching workshops and sharing my process with others. Again and again, I saw how many people longed to paint but felt uncertain, worried their work wouldn't be good enough, or simply didn't know where to start. I realized that what most aspiring artists needed wasn't just technical instruction, but encouragement to explore, experiment, and trust their instincts, and to be relaxed around things "not working" or not looking like what they originally wanted. It's a great way to develop problem-solving and perseverance. A painting can always be reworked into a final piece that feels complete and is loved.
That's why I created this app: to guide you step by step through the world of abstract painting, from foundational techniques to the subtle decisions that make each piece unique. My approach blends practical lessons—like color theory, mark-making, and composition—with creative prompts and gentle nudges to help you find your own artistic voice. Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time, or returning to art after years away, or wanting to add to your current art practice, this app is designed to meet you where you are and grow with you.
My hope is that you'll discover not just how to paint, but how to see the world—and yourself—with fresh eyes and enjoy creating. I can't wait to see what you paint.
