As someone who has walked the path of caregiving myself, I know firsthand how challenging and rewarding this role can be. My experiences caring for loved ones opened my eyes to the unique pressures caregivers face—often feeling invisible, overwhelmed, and unsupported within the health care system. These personal challenges fueled my passion to become a researcher, professor, and advocate focused on caregiver wellness.
Over the years, I’ve worked with countless caregivers from all walks of life, listening to their stories and learning about the real needs that often go unmet. I realized that while much attention is given to patient care, the well-being of caregivers is just as essential for optimal outcomes. This realization led me to develop the Caregiver Wellness: U Model—a strength-based, holistic approach that recognizes and builds upon what caregivers are already doing right.
Through my research, teaching, and writing, I’ve seen how empowering caregivers with practical tools and support can transform not only their own lives but also the lives of those they care for. I created this app to make these resources accessible to anyone, regardless of their caregiving situation or their loved one’s diagnosis. My goal is to help caregivers move beyond burnout and self-doubt, and instead, cultivate resilience, empowerment, and a sense of accomplishment.
