"After years of performing and teaching, I built the cello course for adults that I always wished existed."

Dr. Maxim Kozlov

Dr. Maxim Kozlov

Performer and educator with 30+ years teaching Creator of Cellopedia, a complete online cello resource trusted by learners in 50+ countries.

Throughout my career, I've seen that students make the most progress when they feel truly guided — when their struggles are noticed, their improvements are encouraged, and their path forward is clear. That's exactly the experience I wanted to create here.

This app combines 30 years of teaching with a platform that adapts to each student — so even when I can't be there in person, students engage with my teaching in a way that feels like one-on-one lessons.

Inside, I have gathered a comprehensive progression of scales, etudes, and repertoire designed for both complete beginners and adults returning to the cello. Each lesson is carefully organized to remove overwhelm, build confidence step by step, and make classical cello study accessible, enjoyable, and deeply rewarding.

I created this course for people who want more than scattered information. I wanted to offer a supportive and structured musical journey—one that meets each student where they are, helps solve the small but important challenges of learning, and celebrates each success along the way.

Meet Dr. Kozlov

By the end, you'll be able to:

Hold the cello and bow with confidence

Play essential scales and arpeggios
Develop solid left-hand placement and bow control
Master foundational etudes for finger agility
Interpret and perform classical concert pieces
Build daily practice habits for steady progress
Overcome bow tension, intonation, and timing issues
Gain musical expression and phrasing skills
Develop your own daily warm-up routine
AI-POWERED COACHING

Every session, built around where you are today

Your practice plan adjusts to your level, your progress, and the time you have — so every minute on the cello counts.

I'm a complete novice at 52. No teachers near me, just a rented cello. After 4 months with Maxim's course, I'm 80% through and growing more confident every day.

I found Breval Duets a real challenge but rewarding once I had finally grasped the fingering, bow technique and timings required.

I started playing the cello at age 40, and my technique was not good.

About 80% of my lessons had been on zoom because of the pandemic, plus my teacher was a violinist, not a cellist, so they didn't catch all my mistakes in technique.

I've been making adjustments, and I feel like I'm making huge progress now.

Pre-pandemic I was an advanced player having had lessons for about 5 years. One of the last things I did was perform the Prelude from the Bach C Major Suite.

I never kept up regular practice; a house move followed and I gave up altogether for about eighteen months. This course has got me back to practicing again on a regular basis.

I love the enthusiasm of Maxim, which I follow from of the beginning of my cello adventure as an adult beginner starting from 37 years old and now I'm 45.

When my Suzuki teacher retired I was on book 5, but I never felt I'd mastered the Breval as well as I wished. I was excited to see this tutorial and I'm already playing it with more confidence.

This afternoon my husband came upstairs (which he never does!) to tell me how much better this piece sounded than it ever did before!
