My label started as a mixtape I produced after hours at my first studio job. I was the assistant Pro Tools engineer, and the owner let me use the board after client work was done for the day. I spent my time "chopping" up my collection of video game soundtracks, layering and blending them with a collection of hiphop beats we had on file – and thus GameChops was born. Over the years, my label grew into the world's most popular game music brand, with over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 1 billion total streams. I've released all kinds of music with artists all over the world. The one thing that's been consistent is the way I release and promote music. Refined over the past 15 years on over 1500 songs, you can watch my entire process and apply the workflow and methods to your own creative projects. I've helped develop over 100 artists and spoken at dozens of conventions and private events. This is the first time I've put together everything I've learned into a comprehensive course. It's my hope that through this class, I can give all musicians the opportunity I've been able to cultivate for myself and the artists on GameChops.

A lifelong fan of music and video games, Dj Cutman (Chris Davidson) made a name for himself as a DJ performing at video game, anime, and cultural events across North America. As the electronic music scene blossomed, Cutman went on to found his record label, GameChops, as the world's first imprint dedicated to licensing remixes and cover songs from video games. Cutman was the first DJ signed to the Twitch Partner Program in 2013, with his podcast This Week in Chiptune, which became one of the most widely viewed DJ livestreams of the era. In 2017, Cutman was managing releases on a plethora of music platforms, including YouTube, Soundcloud, iTunes, and Bandcamp, for both GameChops and his own music. When Spotify entered the US market, it began to rise as a favorite among listeners. Eager to serve his artists and promote the GameChops catalog, Cutman made contacts at Spotify in their development and marketing departments, regularly learning of new products and information that became vital to the growth of his catalog. In this exclusive course for Studio.com, Cutman holds nothing back, revealing all his tips, tricks, and secrets to releasing, promoting, and managing a lucrative catalog of music online.
