Soul/Retro-pop outfit YOUNGTONES was born in 2017 at a recording session at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, TX. Producer Matthew Young (Vacationer/Body Language/Splice Originals) and veteran Singer/Songwriter Lucas Wade wrote their first song in the throwback genre in about an hour and the result was something different from Matthew’s typical pop centric productions and Luke’s more Pop/Americana influenced releases. Drawing inspiration from a range of Soul and RnB sounds of the sixties and seventies, YOUNGTONES’ sound is something familiar yet distinctively different. 

Although, in the studio YOUNGTONES continues to be a creative collaboration, on stage and across social media, the project is represented by front man/guitarist Luke Wade. After years of touring as a solo artist, Wade took a few years off from performing after becoming a staff writer for LA based music publisher Angry Mob and beginning work as casting producer for NBC/Universal in the US. Here a key contributor for music shows like The Voice, SONGLAND, and American Song Contest. As he spent his time helping others get closer to their dreams there was less and less clarity about the future of his own. It was in these fertile grounds of uncertainty that the seed that would become YOUNGTONES was planted.  Luke says of this moment, “I guess, sometimes you have to stop doing something to figure out why you have to do it... and that is what happened with music for me. The fire grew and grew and I realized I had to do it... The key to unlocking that passion was unlocking the joy, and, for me, it was all about realizing that you can take music that is fun, seriously.”

With a background in Dance Music, Producer Matthew Young was the perfect partner to clarify this vision and make the project a reality.  He says, “You don't have to break someone’s heart with a song to connect with them. You can create a place with music everyone can escape to together... a pulse you can all move to together, we are so excited to share that experience with as many people as we possibly can.”

Banfi is an award-winning songwriter and producer based in the UK. He creates atmospheric, alternative indie songs that get placements on top flight Spotify playlists like New Music Friday UK, The Other List and AlexRainBirdMusic. He works with some of the most esteemed publishers in the sync licensing world, and recently won the 2022 Production Music Awards.  

In Banfi's Studio, he's sharing his complete songwriting and production process. Watch him on camera create three unique ideas from scratch. Matthew Wang is an award-winning film and television composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in New York and Los Angeles. Merging his background in pop and electronic production with his field recording-centered approach to sound design, Wang creates inventive scores and soundscapes in which he strives to replicate human emotion through sound. 

His versatility has led him to write music for shows including NBC’s New Amsterdam, NBC's Young Rock (2022), Showtime’s Yellowjackets, Netflix’s GLOW, as well as Shaquille O’Neal’s basketball animated short HeadNoise for which he won a Hollywood Music In Media Award for Best Original Song For A Short Film. He found his first feature film project in the IFC Midnight thriller, Centigrade, which he co-composed with Trey Toy, and has gone on to score the television films, RENO! 911 It's a Wonderful Heist and RENO! 911: The Hunt for QANON, with composer Craig Wedren. 

Aside from narrative work, the New York City-born artist also worked closely with documentarian Joseph Juhn on his set of acclaimed films, Jeronimo and Chosen, which shed light on the unexpected and untold stories of the Korean diaspora. A graduate of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Wang is currently at work on his debut solo album.

They are children of the snow. You could almost say they fell to earth on the backs of snowflakes. Wintershome belong as intimately to winter as a fisherman does to his trawler. 

Winter. The season is inextricably bound up with Wintershome. It gave birth to them and now gives them refuge, inspiration and nourishment. Hear them talk about a glacier, the Gornergrat near Zermatt where they come from, and you'll understand. It features on cover of the 1st album, the obvious choice. The glacier represents the love and the mystery that they demand when combining lyrics with melody. A glacier is a moving, living thing; it has a history, it takes away and then gives again, a long time later, while we teeter on the edge of oblivion. In the presence of the glacier, Wintershome are inspired by Nature in her indomitable beauty. In its presence, the group live time as incompressible, their music an ode to the joys and sorrows of the human soul. They are not a group, nor simply a bunch of youngsters. Their relationship is much more subtle than that. There is something of the clan about them. They are a siblinghood, come down from the mountains to speak to us about Nature, to lift us out of the bleakness of the world with voices that shine like the sun's rays glinting off a mountain brook. They have known each other since their first halting steps on skis. Now, they are musicians who like to ski. 

Now, they have answered the call, the urge they have to congregate in the little house they have chosen as their place to create, refine, re-tune and bat musical ideas around to see how they grow. This is their lair, their den, their burrow. This is Wintershome. And there is no poacher alive who can flush them out. Because when the impulse to write comes on them, the atmosphere turns to one of sublime reverence, like
when on foggy days the Matterhorn suddenly shrugs off his misty mantle, a giant waking from his bed of clouds.

Ever since they were children, an air of soft melody has hung about them. Music has always surrounded them, just as mountains, forests and snow have always been a part of their lives. Music itself is their visiting muse, coming and going with perpetual regularity like the winter snows. They are not conquistadors of Nature; they respect her and are fascinated by her, allowing her to come to them with her retinue of sights, sounds and smells.

Wintershome is a house where everyone, from the cellar to the attic, contributes their part, drawn from the rude bounty of Nature. It is a workshop of artisans, a place where one person feels the weight of another's pebble to assess how well it will skim, where one person blows on another’s dried leaf to see how lightly it flutters through the air, and where another person contemplates the branches brought from an earthly epic to judge the rhythm of their rattle. And they take all this and simmer it in the pot bubbling on the family hearth to create their songs, a blend of sadness, intensity, beauty and hope. And each time, the crowd  go home with a little hoard of bright, airy melodies filling their heads like a dose of dewdrops gathered at dawn on a summer's
day.

Wintershome were born of the snow. And through them, winter has become a season of warmth and light.

As an Audio Engineer, Producer, Songwriter, Greg Recchia has been inspired by how records are made and how a great song can make you feel. Greg grew up playing guitar, singing and writing songs in a band throughout his high school career. Jon Gilbert is an accomplished independent producer, mixer, and engineer based in Los Angeles, CA. With over 20 years of experience, he has worked with a diverse roster of artists, including Mt. Joy, Flipturn, Pete Yorn, The Kills, Alina Baraz, Banks, OFF!, The Circle Jerks, and Matt and Kim. Jon played a pivotal role in producing and mixing Mt.
