Apply what you learn
In the class, Sam Haft breaks down his creative process into clear, actionable steps. Follow along with Sam’s process step by step and write your own professional quality narrative-driven song. You can also watch Sam’s process in full first and then bring the ideas, tools, and techniques into your own projects. By following Sam's process, you’ll learn everything you need to write production-ready narrative demos like these:
You're a songwriter of any level interested in creating memorable, story-driven work.
You're a narrative writer interested in the process of integrating music into your world.
You're a fan of TV/film/theater music and want to observe how this work comes to life.
Sam Haft is an RIAA Platinum-selling songwriter, best known as one half of "the internet's biggest gaming band" [NME], The Living Tombstone, as well as co-writing the songs for A24's raunchy cartoon musical, Hazbin Hotel, now a series on Prime Video. Sam was born and raised in New York City, where he made a name for himself in the comedy music space as part of Sam & Bill, with their debut album "Sam & Bill Are Huge" topping Amazon's comedy charts upon its release. From there, writing alongside Yoav Landau as part of The Living Tombstone, he co-wrote 2017's "My Ordinary Life," a song with three quarters of a billion streams on Spotify and Youtube alone. Since 2021 he's been a primary songwriter for the animated works of Vivienne Medrano — colloquially known as "Vivziepop" — on her smash hit indie series Helluva Boss, as well as her animated musical with A24, Hazbin Hotel.
